It is a dream of many to spend the night in a beautifully renovated farmhouse surrounded by authenticity and an interior of timeless design. This is possible in IJlst – or Drylts, as the Frisians say – one of the Frisian eleven cities in the heart of the lake district of southwest Friesland.
What once was built as a utilitarian farm to keep dairy cattle is now the eye catcher at the outskirts of ‘Old IJlst’. The completely renovated farmhouse has a main house that is for the most part authentic and has been converted to contain two spacious suites for guests.
At the rear part of the farm – the barn from bygone times – a new house was built that is disconnected from the main house and is used for special occasions.
What once was built as a utilitarian farm to keep dairy cattle is now the eye catcher at the outskirts of ‘Old IJlst’. In Frisian this is a unique Fryske pleats.
Centrally located in Friesland at barely a one and a half hour drive from Amsterdam you will imagine yourself placed back in time. Waterways and cycle routes traverse the old city centre of the elfsteden city of IJlst that lies in the midst of reclaimed land, fields and meadows.
